About Us:

Canter Lope is an new business which began operations late 2006.  We offer a tailored line of merchandise from North American distributors, being the largest retail distributor for several major brand names in tack and apparel in South-Western Ontario.  Canter Lope is located at 71 London Road in the town of Thamesville, which is also a main highway (#2) between London and Chatham.

Being in a rural community, our goal is to deliver our customers with a wide assortment of merchandise, in an easy and convienent manor.

Canter Lope is  owned by Judy Daniels and Cathy McKeever-McKeon.  Both partners are equally involved in operation and management of the company.

Judy Daniels has been involved in horses in the local area (sales and breeding) for over 30 years.  Not only has Judy been avidly involved in the horse community, but also used to design, manufacture and market her own tack.  Judy Daniels along with her husband Jerry Daniels also have an established mennonite wood furniture store, Thoroughly Painted Quarters, that has been in business in Thamesville for 7 years.  Not only does Judy have extensive retail experience, but also has a foundation in the community as a great business woman.

Cathy McKeon has been passionate about horses throughout her lifetime. Cathy has lived in Bothwell for 29 years and, has a foundation in the horse community of Chatham-Kent and the surrounding area.

Our History

In 1946, Ray and Rita Lally opened a small service station in Comber Ontario, and immediately set a high standard for how their customers would be rewarded for doing business with their family.

During that time, the Lally’s built a rock solid reputation for customer satisfaction that extended far beyond the confines of the tiny village. In the fall of 1982, the family brought their work ethic and customer-oriented manner of doing business under the Ford logo. Ray and Rita’s son, Vince, who grew up learning the service business from his parents and became a licensed mechanic, purchased the Ford dealership from his parents 3 years later.

From the beginning, Lally Ford earned awards of excellence from Ford Motor Company, including the prestigious Distinguished Service Award and the Presidents Award 16 times.

In 1995, with so many satisfied customers returning to the dealership and continually referring their friends, family and co-workers to Lally Ford, the decision to expand could no longer be put off. So began the construction of the new Lally Ford dealership in the Tilbury Auto Mall.

It’s a fresh new location with a great selection of new and used vehicles to choose from. But in the midst of all those changes, one thing has always remained constant with the Lally family, their employees and Lally Ford, putting the customer first. It’s not just an advertising slogan, nor a hollow promise. With the lally family, customer satisfaction has always been “Job One”. that’s never changed, and never will.

In 2001, to meet growing demand, we doubled the size of our Service Department with the addition of six more service bays. This means we can get your vehicle serviced, and you on your way faster than ever before. If your car needs overnight service, no problem, we will provide you with a service loaner vehicle so you won’t be without a car. Also, in 2004 we added a new Automatic Car wash so that every vehicle we service gets a complementary wash in less than four minutes.

Community Service

Lally Ford’s commitment to customer satisfaction isn’t the only area of service where the dealership excels. When it comes to giving back to the community, Lally Ford takes a back seat to no one.

Whether it’s providing employees a day off to volunteer for habitat for Humanity, raising money for the McCarty Cancer Foundation, or contributing to the construction of a new community centre in Comber, Lally Ford is always front and centre when there is a need to be met.

Closer to home, Lally Ford supports a number of worthwhile community causes. Its owner, Vince Lally, is an active Rotarian and past president of the Tilbury Rotary Club.

Lally Ford has also been a strong supporter of minor sports.
